Get started

After a brief training process with our team, you’ll be an official Tails Together volunteer, actively changing the lives of pets in need!

Who can volunteer?

We welcome any animal lovers to volunteer with us!

Age 18+: Volunteer in person at our shelter, at offsite events, or through remote opportunities.

Ages 16-17: Explore field-specific internships at Tails Together or volunteer in person with a parent or guardian.

Those under the age of 16 can participate in one of our volunteer programs, like a group service project, host a fundraiser, be a Tails Together ambassador, or volunteer in person with a parent or guardian.

What do you need volunteers to do?

There are so many avenues to volunteer, both with animals and without. We are always looking for volunteer help with:

– Washing dishes, laundry, and keeping our shelter and animal spaces clean
– Socializing our animals
– Transporting our animals to and from appointments, other shelters, etc.
– Walking our adoptable dogs or participating in doggy day out field trips
– Photographing our animals and assisting with marketing of our adoptable pets

We can also use volunteer support in other capacities, like:
– Organizing donations
– Flyering and tabling as a Tails Together Ambassador
– Anything and everything! Do you work in IT, good at building things, a graphic design pro? However you’d like to apply your skills to help homeless animals, let’s chat!

What is the time commitment to volunteer?

Entirely up to you! The more you volunteer, the more opportunities open up, but you can volunteer with a schedule that works best for you.

Testimonials

“Volunteering with Tails Together has shown us that animals help our family just as much as we help them. There is nothing quite like the unconditional love they offer; no matter how long the day has been at school or work, that stress fades the moment a pet curls up next to you. From my 15-year-old down to my 6-year-old, caring for these animals has brought so much happiness to our home.”
