About Us

At Tails Together, we believe that every pet deserves a loving home, and every family deserves the support they need to make that happen. In a world where shelters are overflowing and rescues are struggling to keep up, too many animals face the risk of euthanasia. 

That’s where we come in. Tails Together is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago’s North Shore community, dedicated to bridging the gap between shelters, rescues, and families. Our mission is simple: to support animal owners, shelters, and rescues to help keep pets in their homes and find loving families for those in need.

Our Story

Bridging the gap in animal welfare

Our founders saw the gaps in animal welfare firsthand – an increase in euthanasia nationwide, a lack of opportunities for kids to engage and learn about animals, poor communication across rescue organizations, poor post-adopt support to help animals settle in, and more. The animal welfare industry needs improvement and we built Tails Together to be the best-in-class solution. We wanted to change adoption into a high quality, curated, and positive experience. We wanted to ensure those who can’t adopt could still engage with animals and help in multiple accessible ways. We wanted the animals in our care to be treated like beloved pets, not homeless animals. We are parents who built Tails Together for the animals of today and the animal welfare advocates of tomorrow, because our pets and our kids deserve it.

Our Mission

A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO ANIMAL WELFARE

Tails Together was founded to address a critical and growing need within Chicago’s animal welfare system. While there is overwhelming intake at Chicago Animal Care and Control (CACC), gaps in resources, access, and support can limit lifesaving potential.

Recognizing that no single organization can solve this challenge alone, Tails Together was created to act as a bridge—serving as both a rescue organization and a collaborative support partner. We work to directly rescue animals and match them with families, but there are so many more ways to save lives. By providing shared resources, education, and fear-free support to our partners, Tails Together works to strengthen the ability of the entire rescue community to save more lives.
